Can any of my fellow Canadian Oneida shooters till me if it is legal for an American to transport a bow in his vehicle across Canada?Or is it considered a weapon just like a firearm.

hi road hawg, i travelled from canada ( N.B. ) to Maine U.s.A, without any problems. I was supposed to stop and declare my bows on Can. side prior to entering the states, but I kinda just drove to the american side, passing where I was to have stopped in Can. . The American gaurd didn`t seem to care but told me they might when i re-entered Can. .upon our return, our gauronly cared that I bought above my limit of alcohol for our stay, but still let us off.

Under the Canadian Firearms act a Bow (Compound, Traditional, Crossbow) are not considered a Firearm.

Under the Fish and Game act of every province it is considered a Firearm for the purpose of Hunting. It must be cased when travelling to and from hunting or target shooting/ 1/2 hour before sunrise and 1/2 hour after sunset.

If you register in the USA at the border for ownership, some do and some don't they may ask for where it was purchaced upon you return to the States.

Hope this helps.

Bob
