Where do you bowfish? what state or states? What is your favorite lake?

I will start it off I live in South Carolina so i primarily bowfish in SC but have shoot a couple of tournaments in Georgia. My favorite lake is Clarks Hill on the South Carolina Georgia border.

I've only shot out of a stream in our backyard. It feeds into Lake Winnebago, about 150 yards away. In the spring, the carp are spawning heavily I'm told. The weather since we moved here has disrupted things a bit, shortening the normal shooting times.

A large event is held near Oshkosh, I believe, but unsure of dates for this year. Some serious shooters attend.

Even with my limited experience, I can definately understand the addiction. :P Lyle

Russell, Clearlake, Lake Almanor, and other places in the Delta. Also check out WWW.Carpkillers.com. Don't know if you need the California Bow Hunter course for bow fishing.

I have never bow fished before, but I am seriously looking into the sport. It seems to eliminate the only problem with traditional fishing that I had(no shooting). what is this course you mentioned?

I don't bow hunt, but I read/seen some place that Ca. requires you to take a bow safety course prior to getting a hunting Lic. Maybe you can give the Bow Rack a call, he will know

I already have my license. California requires you take the Hunters safety course but I took that when I las 12. There is only the one course for both rifle and bow. I thought you were talking about a how to bow fishing class

I've only been twice so far, but I will be going more this year for sure. So as of right now just on the Ohio here in good ol KY. My first night out I shot 5 fish (bighead carp) The smallest one being 11lbs biggest one was 38lbs!!! The 2nd time out I was able to shot 7 none as big as the first time but this stuff is very addictive. A friend is getting us a boat fixed up right now, cant wait till it warms up.

Congradulations Electro, sounds like you already know what your doing. I plan on trying it in the river this year with Bowdoctor from this site. He has bowfished the river in the daytime. And taken many carp. We plan on setting up a boat for night bowfishing. I was told this is much better than during the day.
