Congratulations on the purchase of your new Discovery Bow!
With proper care and maintenance your bow will give you years of shooting and hunting pleasure.

Before attempting to shoot your new bow please read this owner's instruction manual carefully. It will guide you in a step by step set up and adjustment procedure to obtain the maximum performance from your new bow.

Discovery is the first model in an entirely new class of compound bow. It combines the beauty and power of Oneida's lever action with the simplicity and lightweight associated with common compounds with exposed cables. The Discovery is the first no cam compound, deriving it's power and let-off from a unique use of the recurve limb. While simple in concept, the bow allows for draw length adjustability to3 inches and infinite let-off adjustment from 0 - 100%.

The Discovery uses synthetic cables, aircraft aluminum and composites throughout to attain lightweight stiffness and reliable performance.

The light compact simple design is perfect for all hunting situations where confined space, ground clearance, high altitude or bad weather make heavier, longer, complex bows undesirable.

Enjoy Your New Bow!

Trouble Shooting: Here's How on your Discovery

Discovery Frequently Asked Questions...

Q: Can I put my Discovery in a bow press?
Only the Oneida bracket bow press can be used on any Oneida bow, including the Discovery.
The only reason that you need the bow press is to twist the string. All other adjustments should be done by backing out the limb weight adjustment bolts. Your Oneida Bow Press brackets should be set at 23" apart.

Q: How do I change the poundage on my new bow?
Turn the limb weight adjustment clockwise to increase weight, counter clockwise to decrease.
How many pounds per turn of the weight bolts? 5 lb. per turn.

Q: How do I adjust the draw length?
Reduce draw weight until string can be removed. Remove
e-clips from yoke cable axle. Move axle toward string to
shorten draw length.
Warning: Do not draw bow until draw stop is readjusted.

Q: How do I set the let-off? What is the let-off range?
Let-off is changed by turning the set screw under
the hinge. When changing yoke axle location you must also
change draw stop. Tighten draw stop two turns for each hole
you shorten draw length. Loosen one turn for each hole you
lengthen draw.

Q: How do I tiller and time my bow?
To tiller the bow you need a 12 inch ruler or tape measure.
Measure the distance from the back of the end cap to the
string. If the distance from the back of both end caps to
the string are the same, the bow is in tiller.
If the distances are different, you will have to adjust the
weight bolts to get the distances even. If the top
measurement is closer than the bottom, you will need to turn
the top weight adjustment counter clockwise until the
distances are even.

Q: Should the weight be relaxed off the bow when the bow is put away?
Yes, the bow should be relaxed when not used for extended periods to prevent cable stretch.

Q: Is lubrication needed, where?
Occasional light oil on the hinge pin after use in wet conditions is needed. Also use string wax on the string and cables near the slides.

Q: How is center shot achieved?
Visually line up string with center of riser and adjust rest in or out until arrow tip is also in line with string.

Q: What is the correct brace height?
Medium Draw length 7 3/4" - 8 1/4"

Q: How can the bow be made quieter?
Heavier arrows absorb more energy and are quieter than
light arrows. Make sure accessories are not vibrating. Keep
brace height at factory recommended measurement. You can
also add string silencers (puffs). For additional tips visit the Oneida web site tech page.

Q: What is the cable and string material?
Most omni-flite strings and cables are made for Oneida from
450 premium. Sometimes S-4 is used. The yoke cables on the
Discovery are offset 3/16" with the right side being shorter
than the left. If offset cables are not used, right side can
be shortened by twisting.

Q: How often should the cables be replaced? What
should I look for to show wear?
On the Discovery cable wear will show at the slide. When
one strand breaks, the cable will get longer and the bow
will be out of tiller and not make weight.

Q: What type of wax is recommended for cables and string?
We recommend any paraffin or bees wax to improve cable life.

EXCEEDING MAXIMUM LET-OFF
If you change the draw length axle - you Must change the draw stop!
Your bow comes pre-set for draw length from the factory.

Discovery is not like any other bow in the way it obtains
let-off. Incorrect adjustment can lead to attaining too much let-off causing the bow to cock.
If this happens:

1. place string on floor and step on the string

2. hold riser at grip with one hand and pull the riser towards you.

3. pull recurve limb tip toward you while slowly letting riser down until you feel the bow start to make weight

4. then gently let bow down.

DRAW WEIGHT ADJUSTMENTS
To determine the exact draw weight of your bow, a bow scale
is required. If you do not have a bow scale available, any
good archery pro shop will help you.

See fig. 6

Using a 3/16 allen wrench, turn each weight adjustment bolt
one complete turn approximate 5 pound increase (or decrease)
in weight required. Turning the weight bolt clockwise will
increase the draw weight, counter-clockwise will decrease
the weight. Always alternate between the top and bottom
weight adjustment bolt every two complete turns whenever
changing the weight for any reason. Adding more than two
turns on any one side without alternating can cause damage
to the bow.
