Tags are out in this years draw. I drew archery Antelope, horns longer than ears. Missed on the Elk and Mule Deer. Season is from August 1st-20th. I'm all giddy, got a tag first time out.

Now you can have the fun of bringing up the stock on Easton arrow when you're shooting at the speed goats. Again congratulations on the tag.

Took our first scouting trip today. Went to four of my partners "secret" spots. Seen goats at all four locations, all had several shooters in them. One herd was pretty good sized, lost count at 60. The other three had 8-17 in them. Was going to put out a trail camera but am worried about theft. Not much to hide them with at the locations we were at. Going back out on the 15th and most likely the 30th & 31st to decide where to set the blind on August 1st. I'm not a horn hunter anymore unless that's whats in front of me at the time. This is my first Antelope hunt and I really want to see what they taste like, heard their meat is sweet & tender if skinned & cooled as fast as possible. Once successful you have to wait five years to apply again which sucks.

The meat isnt bad. They have a taste all their own. One thing funny with antelope, you drag em on the ground a few feet and roll them over and there wont be much hair left.

Marty hope to some great pictures of your hunt. I know the story will be great to hear when you tell it. The harvesting is only the bonus to the trip you're taking. That is true it will suck if you can't go for another 5 years if you get lucky. But I hope you do so we can have a great story to hear.

Was talking with my hunting buddy today and got some info I was unaware of. I guess I'm luckier than I thought drawing this tag. Based on last years numbers 4200 put in for 15 tags in this unit. This year only 14 tags were issued, and the estimate he heard for allpications was between 4500 and 6000. So, I'm feeling pretty fortunate right now. We are making another scouting trip Friday and I can't wait. The picture is of the unit I drew, 181-184.

Went back out to my #1 choice today to clear brush for the blind and get the site ready. Seen 7 bucks, all within 300 yards of my set up point. Four were just barley legal but the other three were shooters. My plan is to hold out for the herd buck. He's only 10-13" tall but pretty wide. We found another water hole today about 12 miles from this one. Only seen three Antelope but the buck was a monster. Very wide at the base, at least a 6" prong, and 16-18". Getting that guy could be a big challange. If things don't work out at #1 I'll go there for a few days. I took a few pictures today, all from where the blind will be. This is the water hole, 17 yards to the water. Shooting lane #1 This is the trail, 22 yards to the bush. Shooting lane #2 Possible stop & look point in the trail, 26 yards. Shooting lane #3 Top of the trail, 28 yards. Shooting lane #4 The trail itself, 30-55 yards. Shooting lane #5

Forgot to mention, this is 175 yards away from highway 50 and a very busy roadside attraction. We were there for 45 minutes glassing and I counted 32 vehicles that stopped to take a picture of that attraction. I'll devulge the exact location after the hunt.
