48HR Turkey Hunt at Black Eagle Outfitters
Last year I was supposed to head up to Joe's for the Spring Turkey season but was unable to due to the most common issues, time & $$$.
This year I was able to get a 48 hr window & make the trip. Out of work Thursday @ 2pm, 4pm on the road & arrived at 10pm.
Day 1: In my blind at 4:30am. Overcast & 20+mph winds, heard birds in front/behind & all around but nothing was moving. Finally saw two birds 100 yards out answering to the call but they were busy with themselves
Day 2: In my blind at 4:30am. Light steady rain till 6am (I woke up when the rain stopped) I was dozing on & off, listening to the peaceful sounds of my surroundings when I caught the movement of a hen walking past my blind followed by 3 more birds & bringing up the rear was a nice Tom.
I grabbed my Remington 870 (I know, why not my Oneida Extreme? I never miss with my 870!) & touched off a head shot at 18yards. Bird Down!
