When you've just shot a buck with nearly five times as many points as your age, you know you're dreaming--or you've died and gone to heaven. Unless you're Baler Stewart.
The 9-year-old Oklahoman shot a monstrous 41-point buck that’s circulated across the Internet and appears legit. He shot the buck on his first-ever muzzleloader hunt, and wasn’t sure if the gun was sighted-in properly. He asked his dad, “Is this gun on?” When his dad replied it was, Stewart responded, “Well, then I got him, Dad.”
According to the boy’s mother, Cindy, the buck had 41 points you could hang a ring on, but most officials are scoring it closer to 30 points. Besides its size, the rack contained another oddity: a tangled piece of wired fencing.
Several days before Stewart shot the buck, his father noticed part of the wire fencing protecting his black-eyed pea patch was missing. After Stewart’s big buck, his family can likely afford to buy more fencing––it was rumored that Cabela’s offered the Stewarts $150,000 for the deer.
