Recieved this from another member today and thought it was interesting.
Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and
the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck,
I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem. What I do have
a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.
Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one
to earn it for them?
Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do,
on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their lazy butts, doing
drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people
had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?
Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't. Hope you all will pass it along,
though . . . Something has to change in this country -- and soon!!!!!
Guess we could title that program, 'Urine or You're Out'
My experience. After leaving active military duty in 1987, I began attending college 5 months after discharge. When applying for a student loan, I was told I was ineligible. Why? I made "too much money" the previous year. I began my education working 2 jobs while carrying a full load.
While at college, I encountered several people who were receiving aid from the government, not repayable student loans as I applied for. Some of these individuals had not worked for extended periods of time, had children, etc. Ok, but some of these who cried for assistance would not accept the types of jobs I was holding, and, here's the kicker - were spending this "free" money to support their nightlife and illegal drugs. No drug tests were in effect at that time. I am glad that some, with a legitimate need, did use the system honestly.
So when I see those who haven't worked, wasting taxpayers dollars on these activities - I think you see my point. And to have veterans denied? It makes you crazy trying to figure out what the h--- our politicians are doing sometimes.
I would support testing, but you'ld never get the politicians to agree. It would likely upset the ACLU.
