It was reported recently that a downstate immigrant to rural Allegany County called the NYSDOT, demanding that they should "do something" about a “deer crossing” sign along the highway near her new home.
Puzzled, the official asked why she wanted the sign removed.
She answered, “A lot of deer have been hit on this stretch of highway, and I just don’t think that it is right for a sign to be put here because it is obviously not a very safe place for them to be crossing.
