What is the best way to remove the finish on oneida hawk, osprey, talon? I am going to have my bows dipped and want to make sure the dip job stays on. What primer bonds the best?

Tim, mooseridge recomends for the metal parts any good paint stripper will work most of the time. However, some of the older finishes need to be media blasted ...
I have been told Rust Oleum Professional primer
I would check with Rob at moose ridge 207 208 7458

Maybe rob will chime in. He knows what he's doing. Can you sand blast the riser or is there a certain type of media that I need to use?

Tim, I called Rob yesterday and he said when having a bow dipped or refinished the customer does not prep the bow. If your having someone dip a bow that does not strip the finish I would look for someone who does. I have heard of some dippers who do not strip the bows first and just clean light sand. And have heard of some finishs peeling or lifting.

Tim, Rob also had said Black Beauty media works good.
When using media blasting you have to be carefull not to remove to much material.

Thanks joe. I am going to make sure that who ever dips my bow is going to do it right. I wish I had the extra money to have moose ridge powder coat them. I hoping to find a used bow real cheap and letting rob finish it.
