Just picked up some string leeches to replace my old worn out "spider style" ones that have been on there for years. I know how to install them but i DO NOT want to use a string separator to do it, i would prefer to loosen the string and install them that way....problem is, i dont know how to do this. If i use the wooden dowel method to remove the string (which sounds a bit dangerous) can i just put the string back on and still have everything lined up where it was before? Mainly my peep sight and nock point? Or is there a better to remove the string on a Screaming Eagle bow?

When replacing the spiders on your oneida screaming eagle using the wooden dowels you should not have any issues with your peep moving. If so you can add or take off some twists until you get everything back to where you like them. As for saftey be carefull to make sure the string is on the bow properly and you should not have any problems.

Are there any pics on here that demonstrate EXACTLY where to put the dowels? I THINK i know where they go just by looking at the mechanics of the bow, but i would really like to be sure.

That would probably be a good idea down the road...but im in Illinois and bow season is well underway...was hoping to get these installed before this Saturday. I could probably fabricate some wedge shaped pieces of wood to fit in there though. Do these string leeches even work THAT much better that the older spider style silencers anyway?

I would use the spiders until i had the oneida bow blocks. I use the spiders and have always thought they worked better than the leeches. Now I dont use any. :D

What would be the disadvantage of just backing down the limb bolts until the string went slack and installing them that way?

When backing down the limb bolts that way you would need to loosen the timing hub lock down screw. Then retiller the bow when bringing the bow back up to the poundage you set the bow at. Not a big deal. You can go to the charts/manuals section of this forum and read how to do this and there are pictures also. :D
