I recently purchased a Tomcat X80 for $75 that is in cherry condition. The bad thing is that it is a medium set-up and I have a 26.5-27 inch draw. From what I have seen in the manual I downloaded and some of the other topics I have read on the forum, is it possible to change out the cam and cables to make it short set-up or is it even worth trying? I am new to Oneida bows, but have wanted to get one since I shot one 16 years ago. Now that I got the deal I did on this one, I would hate to have to just put it up on the wall. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
On another note, are there any other Marines on the forum?

You can convert oneida tomcat X80 by changing the cams cables and possibly string depending on your current set up. It is fairly expensive to convert the older model oneida tomcat bow but doable. If interested in more information give us a call at 207 629 9365.

I had the same problem with a Strike Eagle, 27" draw on a med bow. I solved it by changing my release. I changed to a three finger target style release with a swivel head. It gained me the extra distance I needed to get to a comfortable anchor point. You could try shorting your release, it may work it may not. Just a suggestion that helped me. You'll love the Tomcat once you start shooting it. The Oneida bows are addictive. I have three and am always on the look out for deals like you got on yours. JR

If your not into spending the money on changeing cams and cables you can try this this is the best way i found to shorten your draw .First set the brace hight to the highest poss. for that model then put in the shortest 80%mod you will need to loosen up the draw stops so when you draw the bow they will move with the draw but not to loose so they fall away after let down. draw the bow to your cofortable feel then lock down the pdcs you wont end up with the full 80% let off maby 65% or so but try this it might work.
