Hi everybody

when I bought my oneida, I was longbow shooter, and decided to shoot like my longbow (instinct)

but like I'm 3D shooter in France, I try to make points for tournaments...

So I decided to shoot with 3 fingers unders the arrow (and not one top, and two under the arrow) and using string walking method...

so I think that my previous setup could not be the right ones...

right now I've :

brace height : 7"3/8 (must be between 7"3/8 and 7"7/8) to have bow more quiet, must be near minima or maxima ?
nocking point :0 must be 1/4" ?
tiller : 0 could be a difference between top and botton and how ?(like with barebows)

thanks for readind and answering... :)

Hi JMG I use to shoot instinctive yrs ago. My set up was to have the brace height near the top, nocking point set at 1/8 above center and the tiller set at matching ( meaning top and bottom set the same distance ) like on all my bows. I also shot 3 fingers under, but, I did not walk the string. Walking the string here put you in a site class. Hope this helps good shooting.

JMG, I have never done this walking the string myself but will give you what I understand as a definition. I believe this means moving your hand on the string lowering where you grip the string to shoot farther or higher on the string for closer shots. My understanding is that in some competitions this would be illegal.
As for setting up the bow
Higher brace heights will make the bow quieter.
Nocking point I would start at 1/4 then move up or down to where the bow shoots best for you.
I have been told some finger shooters will start with the bow tillered so the bottom tiller is about a sixteenth to an eigth inch shorter.
:D

Yes Joe has the the right direction on walking the string. It can get so refined that some people count the serving raps in the serving for yardage. The other method is to move your anchor point up and down the face to change point of impact.

HI both,

exactly what you've explained for the string walking...Joe

it's fordbidden for longbow shootings (when I'd started longbow shooting, I used face walking (like descripted by bowbun) .

but the string walking is authorized for compounds with fingers release... (for competitions in France)

so I'll do changes of my setup

THX :)
