I'm totally new to bows. I picked up a used Strike Eagle. Here is the info on the tag: Wt= 60-80 Serial #= KCF 15908 String length= 49 Draw length= Medium. I would like to know the year it was built, cams it comes with, etc. Any idea how to get this other info.

What things should I check out before shooting to make sure it's safe? What things can I do to improve it from your guys experience?

Thanks for any help,
Sto

Sto your strike eagle was built in 1990 according to the serial number. We also have a charts/manuals section here in our forum for all oneida shooters at /forum/viewfor ... e8d7d756f0
There is information for all oneida bows including manuals string and cable charts there.
I have sent you the repair/maintenance dvd for this bow. After watching this dvd you will know what your bow needs. Until then I would check the string alignment and string, and run a qtip over the power cables checking for any broken strands. If you find any I would not shoot the bow until replacing cables. I would then check the tiller on the bow, this is the distance from the end of the cam to the string on both ends of the bow. They need to be equal. You need to loosen the timing hub tensioning lock screw before adjusting the tiller then tighten or loosen the limb bolts to get this adjustment even on both ends. ONCE EVEN LOCK THE TENSIONING HUB SCREW BEFORE DRAWING YOUR BOW.
When set up properly using the correct arrows the only thing we recomend is a set of cat whiskers for hunting. Some like to add limb savers and other silencing products. But for us the proof is in the freezer and we find many of the products unecesarry. :D

Thanks for the tips. I actually have the original instruction manual, and all the stuff you mentioned is in there. I can't wait to get the DVD. I'm more of a visual person than a book person. Thanks again!!
