I like to give my equipment a once over for problems whether it is a gun & ammo/bow & arrow/boat & motor or any mechanical device I own
All the above have consumables that should be inspected & replaced on a regular basis whether or not it appears there is a problem. It's called preventative maintenance & most people including myself are guilty of negligence in this regard.
Those things such as frayed strings & broken strands are things called Clues!
Pay attention to the clues with your bow, as you would pay attention to the knocking from under the hood of your car & the grinding of your brakes.
With the proper maintenance at regular intervals,you may never see the symptoms of a problem because there won't be any!
